A Watercolor Painting Of Wrens In Spring

mailbox-small

I’m getting a lot of watercolor paintings finished that I started last year, like this one.

I liked the rustic quality of this mailbox.  Evidently, the owner didn’t.  Right after I photographed it, he replaced it with a new one.

At that time, a pair of wrens were nesting in my garage. As soon as I stepped out, I was dive-bombed!  Finally the babies fledged and flew away.  I was relieved, but they immediately did the whole thing again.  This year I’m keeping my garage door shut.

I painted Carolina wrens in this picture, nesting far away in the mailbox.  And I changed the white flowers in front to daisies.  It’s nice to be able to rearrange your world to the way you like it, even if I can’t do it with reality…..
