A Watercolor Painting of Pennsylvania Roads

I recently took an art workshop with John Salminen, a master watercolor painter who does a lot of street scenes.  “Debi,” he said. “your streets aren’t even.  They should measure the same length on each side of the middle line.”

“John,” I countered, “have you ever been to Pennsylvania?”

It was interesting to me at the February First Friday opening—more people spent time looking at the messy traffic jam than they did the beautiful and perfect paintings!  I didn’t think it would be a popular painting, but it proved me wrong.
